Introduced by Snapchat, face filters are the latest fad in the world of social media and successful platforms like the Facebook-owned Instagram are doing well in capitalizing on it by making it accessible everywhere possible. “Starting today, you can play with face filters while sharing live video. Whether you’re channeling a kitten or want to add some stars or rainbow light to your face, you can easily try on face filters while connecting with friends and followers in the moment,” Instagram wrote in their blog post.
How to Use Face Filters in Live Video?
After your app is updated to the latest version that has already been rolled out or will roll out soon in your region, you’ll see a ‘face icon’ at the bottom right corner of your screen before as well as during your live video broadcast. Tap on the face icon, filters will appear on the bottom of the display in a horizontal carousel. Tap on the filter you fancy and play around. Instagram has also released a new sunglasses face filter exclusively for live video that will be available through the next week. While this filter is applied, users can tap to change the scenery reflected on the glasses. You will be able to share a replay of the live video via stories or choose to ‘discard’ it and it will disappear from the app. In a bid to boost the popularity of Stories on the platform, Instagram released an update earlier this month giving users the ability to check out Instagram stories via the web version of the app on desktops and also on smartphones.
